Styled Shoot: Ten Years Later

We’d had big plans for our tenth wedding anniversary. We’d talked about what we were going to do for almost ten years. But life happened. So much life happened.

Our anniversary was on a Thursday on one of his only days off that week. So while our son was at school, we recreated a few wedding pictures in the same field behind the church where they were taken ten years ago. There were no flowers. I did not spend two hours in hair and make-up. We did not shell out thousands of dollars on a photographer or prime lenses. It was just us with a camera and a tripod in our wedding clothes.

There are more gray hairs. There are more wrinkles. There are more scars. The last ten years have held a lot of challenges and stress and change. They’ve also held a lot of laughter and joy and wonder. We are not as giddy or well rested as we were. But we are stronger and wiser. We know each other completely, and we love each other better.

After our photoshoot, we shed our fancy clothes, crawled into our sweats, and headed to Koppe Bridge to have a delightfully greasy lunch. It was wonderful.
